Niangon

Niangon is very durable wood and it is extremely resistant to weathering and moisture. It looks like mahogany with a white greyish sapwood and a brownish-red heartwood. Fine wood with high hardness, Niangon has a luxurious look that makes it suitable for furniture and precious flooring.
For its high resistance to water and humidity it is also used for the construction of vessels and window frames subject to harsh climates.

Origin names: Anguekong, Niangon, Nyankom, Ogoué.
Origin: West Africa from Sierra Leone to Gabon.
Weight: About 700 kg / m3.
Drying: No difficulties.
Processing: It requires experience and precision due to the high resin content; jointing with screws, nails and glues are quite difficult.
