The properties of wood

If treated avoiding glues and paints based on solvents, wood provides greater interior health and, thanks to the exclusive use of wood from certified forests, even environmental protection, an increasingly important goal.

Wood is hygroscopic, so it absorbs humidity during the cold season (process that does not affect its integrity) and it returns to the initial condition when the weather is drier. Element of quality is the adequate seasoning, that is when the timber - maintained for some time (2-3 months) in stock away from atmospheric agents - can reach better stability, with an average humidity degree of 13-14%.
The development of production processes, with the use of paints and increasingly advanced protective techniques, has got the maintenance of modern wooden windows to be minimal: it is sufficient cleaning windows once a year with a special protective product (provided by the manufacturer) to preserve the paint film that protects the wood, independently of the finish. If it is altered you can make it as fine and solid as it was originally.
